Saying NO to the ‘Naysayers’, Getting jiggy with the Business supporters

Every story has its characters. There’s the ‘bad folk’ and the ‘good folk’. Generally, the movie ends up with bad guys being beaten with 50 shades of movie-plots while the good guys win the ending credits with a slow motion footage of their hard earned victory.

Your business might already be in beta phase (as is mine) or you might already have a product or service that’s already up and running. By now, you’ve already experienced the wrath of the ‘naysayers’: the people who don’t believe you can succeed. In my case, I am writing this after hearing that some of my closest friends believe that my startup will fail (behind my back). The naysayers are contagious and their negative thoughts have an effect on you, I know. Keep reading, my friend.

Entrepreneurs are like mothers. We care so much about our idea, we cherish the fact that one day our product or service will make someone else’s life easier and we believe so much in the fact that we will be successful in raising a proper venture. We are a defensive bunch and rightfully, we should be. Don’t you hate it when you come across someone who’s all like ‘Why did you think of doing something like this? I mean Company X has already done this’, ‘I guess it’s okay’, ‘it’s nothing I haven’t used before’. Sure, your product or service might have its flows but it really pisses you off, doesn’t it?

You worked your butt off to make sure this venture reached its true potential. You hustled, you grinded. You screamed out of stress but you found you composure. You saw it gradually build up, you were hopeful. You got those initial ‘WOW’ comments, you knew you were doing something right.

From my experience, Naysayers are mostly people who either has a personal issue with you or someone who doesn’t see the point of your product. There’s always two kinds of people. There’s the set of people who’ll LOVE your product and there’s the set of people who’ll straight-up HATE your product. Facebook has been running for more than a decade now, yet they still have a anti-fan base of loyal people who simply hate facebook. You just can’t satisfy everyone.

Don’t try to impress anybody but you. You push this venture forward, You are the hustler. You created this. Be proud of what you have accomplished so far and don’t give in to those nasty comments that you and your venture might be receiving. Keep your head straight and work on making it better.

Remember this simply equation. Every time you hear a comment that displeases you, get back to your venture and add something new to it. Run this equation on a loop and you’ll shut all of those Naysayers up. You just can’t satisfy everyone.
